She told me she thought I was too old for school
After I graduated from high school, I just wanted to play for a while. I had just spent almost thirteen years in school and I thought I deserved a break. I took all the money I had gotten at graduation and spent a couple months travelling. That was ten years ago, and I am still drifting. Unfortunately, now I am drifting from one couch to another. I have very little money, except for when I find a job here or there. I worked for McDonald’s for almost six months, and then I quit. That was the longest job I have ever held down. Mom was afraid I would never find my place in life. She kept telling me she was afraid of what would happen to me if something were to happen to her and dad. I couldn’t believe she felt that I was useless. After thinking over her words, I decided to go back to school. I went to the local college and picked up some brochures. I was excited when I saw the information on HVAC. Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning struck me as something I may like. I signed up for the course after inquiring if I could get some help with the tuition. Once I found out I could get some help, I knew that I was going to HVAC certification classes. When I told my mom I would go to school for HVAC school, she cried. She told me she thought I was too old for school. I told her it wasn’t school. I said I was taking classes so I could get certified and become an HVAC technician, and she cried again.
