I assumed that if there was a bad smell from the air conditioning, it had to be some kind of a dead animal stuck in the A/C vents! I couldn’t believe that there might be mold and mildew in our air conditioning
I don’t know what’s going on with my HVAC lately. It’s already summer, and the weather is really heating up fast. And so I have already switched my HVAC system over to the air conditioning. I turned it on last night and as soon as the fan kicked on and started blowing the cold air through the vents, a stinky smell filled the house. When the A/C cut back off, the smell went away. I found this to be very strange and suspicious. It had to be something in my air conditioning system, because the only time I smelled it was when the A/C started running. I started feeling a little bit concerned about it because I thought that there might be a dead raccoon or a decomposing chipmunk stuck in one of the ventilation ducts somehow! So I did a little bit of research online. On this certain HVAC blog that I came across, I read an article about how certain types of mold and mildew can make your air conditioning smell bad when it runs. I was surprised when I read this. I assumed that if there was a bad smell from the air conditioning, it had to be some kind of a dead animal stuck in the A/C vents! I couldn’t believe that there might be mold and mildew in our air conditioning. That has to be affecting our indoor air quality negatively. I guess I will call our local HVAC company and have them come to clean out our ventilation system for us.
