I think that we might be better off using space heaters and window air conditioning units for the addition

Ever since we had our first baby three years ago, my husband Vince and I have been talking about building an addition onto our house. Right now, we only have two bedrooms. But since I’m pregnant with our second child now, time is of the essence and we need some extra space for these babies! We have been working with an architect on an addition for our house. At this point, we are thinking that we will add on two extra bedrooms, a full bath, and an all-season room. I’ve always wanted an all-season room, but I’m not sure how the heating and cooling system would work in there. It seems like all of the heat and A/C would just leak right out the windows and glass doors. Anyway, for the other part of the addition, we know that we’re definitely going to have to make some upgrades to our current heating and cooling system. I just don’t think that our current HVAC system will be capable of handling the load of the space from the two extra rooms plus the bathroom. Vince thinks that we should remove our current HVAC system and replace it with another larger system that’s able to handle a larger space. I think that we might be better off using space heaters and window air conditioning units for the addition. We just aren’t sure about it, and we want to make the right decision for our family’s indoor air quality. I guess we’ll talk to an HVAC professional and see what his opinion is on the subject.
